One of my special tasks in September was to interview our member camp directors to review their summer experiences and challenges, which also helps us prepare for the new year of ministry. It’s always encouraging to hear how our ministry has impacted their camps. One thing that kept coming up in my conversations with the camp directors was the positive impact of the Counselor for Counselors course introduced at our last conference.
This course, led by Irina Zagladkina, a Christian camping expert from Moscow, helped camps implement a crucial leadership position that supports and equips counselors while offering growth opportunities for experienced leaders. One of the participants, Viktoria, was ready to step away from camp ministry, but after taking the course, she was so inspired that she developed a counselor training program and took an active role in caring for her team. Now, she feels more empowered and ready for the next season of ministry.
