Family Church – Practicing the Way

This season, our church here in Askim is focusing on discipleship, and it’s been a blessing to start exploring this topic in our small groups. This week, we launched our first gathering using the Practicing the Way materials, beginning with the series on Scripture — making time in the Word something intentional and sacred.

It was a joy for me to introduce this practice. I’ve really come to appreciate this ministry and the thoughtful, Christ-centered way they help us grow in spiritual habits. As I was preparing, one image from the material struck me deeply: the idea of God standing beside us as we read His Word — present, attentive, leaning in and whispering, “What do you see here? I wrote this for you. You are in My presence now.”

That simple thought encouraged me so much in my own walk with God. Scripture is not just a task — it’s a space of communion, where the living God draws near to shape us, comfort us, and speak life into our hearts.

I’m looking forward to journeying through this with our church family, and to seeing how God draws each of us deeper into His Word—and closer to Him.
