Our recent Family Church Summer camp was a joyful and meaningful time for our small but close-knit church community here in Askim, Norway.
It’s our third camp, but it's the first time that we built the camp around a shared story — The Lightkeepers. This narrative shaped many parts of the weekend: skits, games, decorations, icebreakers, and prayer stations.
As a church that wants to be a light in our town, the theme fits us well. Throughout the weekend, we talked about the light within us, our relationship with God, the importance of community, faith in the family, and sharing the light with others.
It was also a joy to have several people who are new to our church join the camp. Spending these days together gave us the chance to get to know each other better and to share a meaningful experience as one community.
A personal highlight for me was serving with my oldest son, Fedor, who played the Lightkeeper in the skits. He also rehearsed with the younger kids and helped them take part in one of the performances. It was great to see him take the initiative and include others in bringing the story to life.
We worshiped, played, prayed, and simply enjoyed being together. And the weekend ended with something very special — the baptism of a young boy, named Titus, a quiet and powerful reminder of God’s ongoing work among us.
We’re thankful for what these days brought — and ready to keep the light shining.
