One of the most touching parts of my U.S. trip was visiting Daryl and Donna Nuss in California and meeting some of their friends who supported their ministry in Russia years ago. In a quiet way, they were part of my teenage journey of faith through the English camps. It was also a joy to meet some of the teenagers who once came on projects to Russia and to see them now grown up and strong in the Lord. I loved being able to share with them the continuation of the story and how God has led me into serving Christian camping leaders today.
In Texas, I was reminded again of the steady support and encouragement that has carried our ministry for years. I had the opportunity to spend time with long-time friends and ministry partners who have a real heart for the people of Russia. I also reconnected with some people I met a year ago at Garden Valley Church, and it meant a lot to hear that they had been praying for me. It was a joy to give updates and share how God is at work. There are so many encouraging stories of impact, and it is meaningful to remember how much has been shaped through their faithfulness, shared wisdom, and steady care, both by those who came to Russia and by those who supported from afar. Reconnecting, talking about life and faith, sharing ministry challenges and blessings, and praying together was a true gift.
Another highlight was attending the Christian Camp and Conference Association (CCCA) “Go With Me” conference with over 600 participants from across the U.S., and representatives from New Zealand, Africa, and Ukraine. It was deeply encouraging to see camps that are interested in growing international partnerships: welcoming international staff, exploring friendships with camps in other countries, learning their best practices, and even considering staff exchange opportunities. Some are also looking for practical ways to connect with CCI associations worldwide and share what they’ve learned with the wider global camp community. For me, it was an honor to represent the global CCI movement, share what is happening in Christian camping around the world, and explain how camps and individuals can become part of this movement through partnership, connection, and mutual support. I was also grateful for the chance to spend time with the CCI team at the conference and to be reminded again what a gift it is to be part of a shared vision.
