Another major highlight for me was the time with camp directors. I had the privilege of coordinating two special parts for them: the directors’ meeting and a round table for sharing best practices.
At the directors’ meeting, we gathered over 40 camp leaders — from Vladivostok in the Far East of Russia all the way to Kaliningrad, including friends serving in Mongolia. It was a joy to hear their dreams, their real challenges, and what God is doing in their camps.
We also made time to pray for one another, bringing thanksgivings and needs to God in an old-fashioned way — written on small pieces of paper. This has become especially meaningful for me now that I am back home in Norway: I brought those notes with me, and I pull them out in the mornings to pray for several camps each day.
The round table was another special moment: directors shared their own tools, discoveries, and best practices from camp ministry, and we also had group discussions on the topics people were most interested in. Some of the key topics included a biblical perspective on fundraising, the prayer life of the camp team (with practical ideas), overcoming a crisis, involving teenagers in ministry, and after-camp ministry. There was so much experience, wisdom, and inspiration in one room. It was encouraging to see leaders openly sharing their victories and failures, learning from one another, and strengthening each other for the year ahead.
